Directions:
From the South option 1) take 114 North through the
center of town, then turn right onto Center Road after the Mobil Station; go to
the end and take a right onto 77 (Concord Stage Rd.); take 2nd right onto
Rockland Rd and immediate left onto Merrill Rd. Go all the way to the end.
Option 2) Take River Rd all the way to the right hand turn onto
Rockland Rd and then another right onto Merrill Rd and go all the way to the
end.
From the North: Take 114 South to Concord Stage Rd. Follow Concord Stage Rd past
Colburn's store. Go past Center Rd and River Rd on your right and take the next
right turn onto Rockland Rd. Take an immediate left turn onto Merrill Rd and go
all the way to the end.
Permits are required and can be obtained at the Transfer Station. Please bring proof of residency.
What
the Transfer Station can accept:
Co-mingled container:
Glass bottles, jars, window glass, mirror glass,
automotive glass, ceramic fixtures or tiles allowed here. Plastic
bottles - #1 and #2 – milk, soft drink and detergent are acceptable, toys and
other plastic items including bags go in the rubbish. Tin cans and aluminum
cans, no pots and pans or other aluminum, tin or metal items allowed here.
Cleaning is very important: The above food and beverage containers must
be rinsed and clean. If not clean there is a problem with yellow-jackets and
bees during warm weather. We do not want you or your children to get frightened
or stung by insects. Note: The Town receives money for the
plastic, aluminum and tin cans. The glass is being held in hopes of being
crushed and added to our aggregate materials.
Newspaper box:
Magazines and catalogs, office paper, advertising mail and newspaper go in this
box. No plastic or garbage. These items need to be bundled, which can be
done at the transfer station when you arrive. There is string and an area just
for this. Cereal boxes, pizza boxes, six pack holders and tubes go here.
Holiday wrapping paper is also included. No foil paper of any kind is
allowed. Note: The Town receives money for this commodity.
Corrugated
cardboard:
Corrugated cardboard only, please flatten boxes before putting them in. No
Styrofoam, wood or metal goes in here. Cardboard of oriental origin (usually
contained electronic items and has a yellowish color) goes in the rubbish, as
does oily or really wet cardboard. Maximum size is four (4) feet square.
Note: The Town receives money for this commodity.
Used
oils and batteries:
Used oil (no synthetic oil) is accepted in see through containers that can be
left at the area, no 5 gallon buckets allowed, contaminated oil must wait for
hazardous waste day. Wet cell batteries are accepted; dry cell batteries are
not accepted. Note: The Town receives money for the
batteries and burns the oil for heat in the oil furnace at the Highway Garage.
Reusable
items:
A “Swap Shop” is used for residents of Weare to exchange clean, usable or items
only needing minor repairs, items not for resale. Textiles (clothing bin) are
also accepted, items preferred in bags. If it didn’t sell in the yard sale
bring it here and share it with the Town’s people.
Scrap metal:
Material must be “clean metal only” in other words no attached rubber, plastic,
wood, etc. No propane tanks or other material are to be put on the metal pile.
Appliances other than those containing refrigerants go on the main metal pile.
Refrigerators,
Dehumidifiers, Air Conditioners:
There is a fee of $10.00 each (and may be subject to change). Refrigerators,
dehumidifiers and air conditioners go in a separate area near the metal pile.
Please handle them carefully so that the gases do not escape from tubes and
REFRIGERATOR DOORS MUST BE REMOVED!!!
TV’s,
Microwaves, Computer Monitors: .12 per pound
These items are accepted.
Wood
and Brush:
Non-pressure treated wood and brush is accepted with a maximum diameter of 5
inches. No metal other than nails or screws, no glass, plastic, asphalt,
stumps, plywood, paneling, treated wood, stained or painted wood.
Compost
pile:
Leaves, flowers, pine needles and glass clippings are accepted. NO FOOD
PRODUCTS.
Construction-Demolition
material:
There is a separate trailer for asphalt roofing.
There are separate places also for sheetrock, sheetrock plaster,
porcelain (including toilets) and pressure treated wood. There is a charge for
this material. The fees are as follows (and may be subject to change):
Construction & Demo wood $ 15.00/yard OR .05 per pound
Shingles $ 30.00/yard OR .05 per pound
Pressure treated wood & Sheetrock $50.00/yard OR .07 per pound
NO DUMPING IS ALLOWED BEFORE SEEING ATTENDANT!!
Insulation:
Insulation is accepted, but you must see attendant prior to dumping.
Tires:
Tires are accepted, but there are fees charges. The fees are as follows (and
may be subject to change):
Up to 20” $ 2.00/each
Up to 1100 x 24 $ 12.00/each
24” and equipment $0.12 per pound
Motorcycle tires $ 1.00/each
TIRES ON RIMS ARE NOT ACCEPTED!!
Household
Hazardous Materials:
Annual and/or bi-annual collections of household hazardous material are
scheduled during the year, depending upon approval of this expense at the annual
Town meeting. With the approval at Town meeting, grant money is applied for
from the State to pay a portion based on a per capita rate. The following
materials accepted include antifreeze, chemicals, chlorine, paint strippers, oil
based paints (Latex paints are accepted on a year round basis), and
please contact the Transfer Station at 529-1650 for information.
NOTE: Clean Harbors (224-6626) can arrange for hazardous waste disposal year round.

NOTE: call the Transfer Station at 529-1650 with questions. The transfer station attendants have the right to refuse any trash. Please remember the trash goes to an incinerator to be burned. For this reason, anything that does not burn does not belong in your regular trash. Recycling is mandatory in town, please do your part.
